Skiers could be described
possibly as falling into two main categories. Those who will not stop until
they simply have to eat, and those that come only to eat. No matter which
category you fall into there are many great possibilities on this mountain.
Big restaurants await at the top of every major lift system, most offering a
choice between self-service and a separate restaurant offering full service.
Try L'Olympique at the top of Les Attelas and the restaurants of Les
Ruinettes, Le Col, and des Gentianes at the top of Savoleyres. Additionally
there are a number of traditional and rustic restaurants located all over the
mountain as well.
In the Mont Fort region, I
would recommend the Cabin de Nendaz just above and to the left of the Frag
lift on the glacier. The specialties there lean toward very simple and good
soups, cheese, dried meats, or the plate of the day.
The Cabin de Mt. Fort is
situated below the jumbo lift on the way down from the Col. de Gentiane to La
Chaux. It offers classic simple food topped off by a stunning view.
Further down the Mountain
between Ruinettes and Verbier on the plateau of Clambin are Chez Dany or Au
Mayen. Call and book for these last two, as they are very popular.
On the Savolyres side, Les
Marmotes and Le Carefour offer a wide choice. For the best apple tarts, try
Chez Simon at the bottom of the Savolyres nord draglift.
There is also a good
selection of restaurants to choose from in the beginner's section. Try them
and pick your own favorite. Overall, Verbier on the mountain or in the village
is a splendid place to enjoy culinary delights.
